Greetings everyone! This is an attempt to do more blogging and communicating with the friends and family that I love...So, here I go!

Yesterday marks the end of the first chapter of the lives of my wife and me. Three years ago Lindsey and I drove from New Haven, CT to Conroe, TX in hopes of following the will of God. Today we begin our journey back to the Northeast in confirmation of His will. Isn’t it amazing how God brings things full circle?

Three years seems so long ago! Lindsey and I were newly engaged, a little naïve, and somewhat intimidated by our uncertain future.

Lindsey had just made the most difficult decision of her educational career; she passed up an outstanding graduate school acceptance in the Midwest in order be closer to me during our engagement period.

Personally, I still didn’t know which professional path I wanted to take. Ministry was my passion, so I decided to do what was natural; return to my home church and serve as a youth minister.

Here was our strategy: Lindsey would stay with her aunt about an hour away; I would reside with my parents until our wedding date about a year later.

At first glance to some, it seemed as if we were making a big mistake. Our plan just didn’t make sense.

Why? Because many of our peers were landing consulting gigs and high paying jobs in the financial sector. Others were well into their graduate educational careers, preparing for masters degrees, dissertations and residencies. They were really going places.

To the contrary, we seemed to be headed backwards. We were a young couple that possessed no money, no fulltime job opportunities, and a very vague explanation as to what our plans were for the future. We often questioned God as to what we were supposed to be doing.

Amidst our uncertainty, however, there was one thing that we always agreed upon on. We agreed that we would always put God first. We prayed earnestly that God’s will be done in our lives. We literally sought first His Kingdom, even when we didn’t fully understand His purposes

We didn’t have it all mapped out…but we trusted Him.

We didn’t have a lot of money…but we trusted Him.

We were frustrated with what seemed to be a lack of progress…but we trusted Him.

Today we enter the next phase of our lives; older, stronger, wiser and much more confident in the promises of God. He has proved Himself over and over again and has more than demonstrated His love towards us. The past three years haven’t been easy. There have been plenty of ups and downs. However, I have absolutely, positively no reason to doubt God and His purposes.

We are moving to New York totally by faith. (i.e. We left most of our stuff in Texas, are still trying to find a place to live & trying to sell one of our cars). Nevertheless, I am confident that God will continue to be faithful…because that’s just the way He is.

To all of my church family; from the bottom of my heart, I thank you for allowing me to serve. All of the encouragement and love that you have shown Lindsey and I over the years has been tremendous. I already miss you!

To my brother and sister, know that I love you also. I am proud to be your oldest sibling. You guys are maturing so well and doing big things. I'm trying to be just like you two :-)

Mom and Dad...no words can describe the impact and influence that you have had on my growth and development. Thank you for starting the legacy. I will continue it.

So, New York, here we come. Lord, thanks for bringing us safely to Texarkana, TX. In the morning we will head to Memphis, TN and Atlanta, GA. I’m tired, so I am going to hit the sack. I love you all, and pray for our safe travel!
